So Why Did We Move?
Now that we are moved in and people are coming to see us at our new location, everybody wants to know, after 9 years why did we decide to move? Well, back in June 18, 2012 we had a small fire in the utility room of our old location. Luckily the Ostemo fire department responded quickly, and the damage was very minimal, but with it being in the utility room it did take out the electric, heat and plumbing. After many reassurances from the owner of the building that repairs would be quickly made, we decided to stay and reopen after the repairs were made. At 8 months after the fire, and we still had no electric in most of our building we decided we would have to move. We really hated to move from a location that we had invested so much time and love in to, but its pretty impossible to run a business without electric! Seeing that it looks like repairs are still going on as of today (yep the fire was 417 days ago!) I think we made the correct decision to move.
Our old location 14 months after the fire, with repairs still going on.
Now we are close to downtown (something we wanted 10 years ago) and have more space, at a lower cost, so we are even happier with the move. What is coming in the next year? The owner of the building will be opening a coffee shop in the front and a custom order furniture store on the lower level. Our new location is getting more amazing every day. We look forward to having you stop by and letting us show you around.

Our new location!
Here’s our new location, right on the corner of South Burdick and Wall Street. We are just a few blocks out of downtown, just before Crosstown Parkway. Just drive between the two buildings and park in the parking lot in the back. As we work on the coffee shop in the front (more on that later!), use the back entrance.

Mother’s day is coming up, and I always think about showing you something fun for mother’s day, but I get so busy at this time of year that I never get it written up before the day gets here. So here is the one from last year.
The flowers and stems are made from the waxed string that you can get from Tv or some craft shops.
I then just cut an opening, snuck it home so my daughter could sign it and then made a shadow box frame for it. Mom loved it, and it was so much better than candy or a card that just gets thrown away at the end of the week.
Hope everybody has a great Mother’s Day!

At Traditions we feel we’re two businesses in one. The first meets retail customer needs while the second handles commercial clients. With “commercial clients” ranging from hospitality to other frame shops to even government.
Recently a commercial clients asked us to produce 3 prototypes. “Prototype” meaning “framing example” or “proofs.” Deadline? Same day! And while challenging we were able to help.
Later we learned they “loved the work” (which is always great to hear that) and wanted 68 more. In 3 days! Again, we were able to help and even wanted to share images of the effort.
I always think it makes such a great pattern to see them stacked up.
